Explain to the children that those who believe in Jesus will be able to live with Him in Heaven forever.

BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)

Gather the children around you for story time. After the introduction, read the below children's version of the story. As an option, you can read the story about Lazarus directly from the Bible.

Introduction:

In our Bible story today, Jesus miraculously brings His dead friend Lazarus back to life. This shows us that Jesus has the power over life and death. This is a great reminder that those who believe in Jesus will live, even if they die, because they will live forever with God in Heaven.

Discussion Questions:

1. Why were Mary and Martha upset? (Their brother Lazarus was dying.)

2. Why did Mary and Martha send someone to find Jesus? (Jesus could heal their brother.)

3. Why didn't Jesus rush back to heal His friend Lazarus who was about to die? (Jesus knew He had the power over life and death.)

4. How long had Lazarus been dead by the time Jesus arrived? (Four days.)

5. What was covering the entrance to the tomb? (A large stone.)

6. What happened when Jesus called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!" (Lazarus came out of the tomb.)

Begin by thanking God for caring about us and for giving us life everlasting. Then thank Him for the tasty treat. Provide the children with a snack of gingerbread people cookies and water.
