孩子们将在接下来的四周内背诵这两节经文。本周，老师可以将经文拆分成短语，分别写在索引卡上。例如：“所以你们要效法神”写在一张卡片上，“好像蒙爱的儿女一样”写在另一张，依此类推，直到整段经文都被写在卡片上。在课堂上，把这些卡片分发给孩子们，每人一张或两张（视班级人数而定），让大家一起查圣经找出这段经文，然后将卡片按正确顺序贴在墙上。孩子们可以对照圣经来排列。

圣经说，虽然耶稣本是神，祂却不以此夸口。祂没有到处说“我是神，你们不是！”相反，祂使自己卑微，取了仆人的形象，甚至顺服至死（腓立比书2:5-8）。

现在，如果我问你们：你们现在愿意为我而死吗？愿意为这里所有的小朋友而死吗？你愿意为一个甚至不会对你说“谢谢”的人去死吗？这对我来说很难做到，你一定要有极其谦卑的态度才做得到。

现在你们明白耶稣有多么谦卑了。今天就向神祷告，求祂帮助你成为一个谦卑的仆人，求祂帮助你成为像耶稣一样的人。

MEMORY WORK (12 minutes)

"Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV

The children will memorize these two verses over the next four weeks. This week, write short phrases on index cards. For example: "Follow God'sf" on one card; "Example, therefore" on another; and "as dearly loved" on yet another. Continue like this writing both verses on cards. During class, hand out one card to each child, or two cards each if you have a small class. Have everyone look up the verses in their Bible. Then have the children tack or tape their cards on the wall so the verses are in the correct order. Children can look in their Bible for help.

SCRIPTURE READING AND DISCUSSION (15 minutes)

Introduction:How many of you know what being prideful is? (allow for answers) How about being humble? (allow for answers) Well, after today, you will have even a better understanding of what it means to be humble like Jesus. Our story today takes place not long before Jesus was betrayed, yet He continued to teach His disciples.

John 13:1-17

Read these passages to the kids using different voices for Jesus and Simon Peter.

Discussion Questions:

1. What did Jesus do that the disciples did not expect? (He washed their feet.)

2. Why did Peter at first not want Jesus to wash his feet? (He didn’t think his master should be serving him.)

3. Read verse 12 again. Jesus asked his disciples, “Do you know what I have done for you?” How do you think His disciples answered Him?

4. Why did Jesus choose to wash the disciples feet? (To teach them about humility and serving others.)

APPLICATION (2 minutes)

The Bible says that although Jesus was God, he didn't brag about it. He didn't run around saying, "I'm God, you're not!" Instead, He humbled himself, and took on the very nature of a servant. He came to serve, even unto death. (Philippians 2:5-8) How many of you would be willing to die for me, right now? How about for all the kids here? Would you be willing to die to save someone who wouldn't even say "Thank You" for what you did? That would be hard for me. You would have to have a very humble attitude to do that. Now you know how humble Jesus was. Today, ask God how you too can be a humble servant. Ask God to help you be just like Jesus.
