JINGLE BELL TOSS
The children will learn about Jesus’ eternal presence with God. by Leah Pittsinger TOPICS: Incarnation, Christmas, Trinity
MATERIALS: Plastic cups Jingle bells Permanent marker, tape Optional: timer
DURATION: Approximately 10 minutes
PREPARATION: Use the marker to write a prompt on each cup: 1. Jesus was with God in the beginning. 2. Jesus is God. 3. All things were made through Jesus. 4. Jesus is life. 5. Jesus was born to save us! Set up the cups in a vertical line across the floor or on top of a table. To help keep them in place, put a piece of rolled up tape underneath each cup.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: Explain to the class that Jesus became “God in the flesh” (called “incarnation”) when He was born on the earth. But the Bible also tells us some specifics about who Jesus was before He came to earth. Read the words on each cup and challenge the children to toss the jingle bells inside the cups by following the order. Whoever can successfully toss a jingle bell inside each cup while going in order is the winner. If desired, you may use a timer to determine the winner.
Application: John 1 tells us that Jesus was with God in the beginning, He is God, all things were made through Him, He is life, and He was born to save us. Jesus is eternal and He has always existed with God! So, this Christmas we can celebrate Jesus’ by thanking God for sending Him to earth as a little baby who then died for the sins of the world. We can worship God for sending the gift of Jesus!
