课前准备

开始这个示范之前，请先买一个像图片中那样的平衡秤，或者自己作一个。

作平衡秤的方法：准备一支圆形铅笔、一把直尺和一个图钉。将铅笔平放在桌面上，再把直尺放在铅笔的中央位置保持平衡。为了使直尺固定在铅笔中央，可以把图钉从直尺中央钉入铅笔中。（注意：根据所使用直尺的材质，可能需要事先在直尺中央钻一个小孔，以便图钉能够顺利固定。）

说：

你们知道什么叫做“平衡”吗？有没有人在小时候玩过跷跷板？跷跷板非常有趣，同时也能帮助孩子学习什么是平衡。我们大多数人都听过“均衡饮食”这个词。你们知道什么是均衡饮食吗？为什么均衡饮食很重要呢？因为健康、均衡的饮食能帮助我们保持身体健康。

你们知道吗？除了身体需要平衡，我们的属灵生命也需要平衡。（把平衡秤放在孩子们面前。）为了让我们的属灵生命成长，我们需要好好照顾它，并给予它适当的“喂养”。现在，让我们用这个平衡秤来说明拥有平衡人生的重要性。

（指向平衡秤的一端。）这一边代表我们的身体生活。（再指向另一端。）这一边代表我们的属灵生活。（在代表身体生活的一端放上一枚小硬币。）这一枚硬币代表玩耍。（再放一枚小硬币。）这一枚代表上学。（再放一枚小硬币。）这一枚代表家务劳动。到目前为止，平衡秤明显倾向身体生活这一边。（然后在属灵生活的一边放上一枚较大的硬币。）这一枚代表祷告。（再放上一枚硬币。）这一枚代表读圣经。继续放置硬币，直到平衡秤达到平衡，或者稍微偏向属灵生活的一边。

请注意，我们不需要让两边的硬币数量完全一样。因为像祷告和读圣经这样的事情，对我们的生命影响更大，所以它们所占的“重量”也更重。

让孩子们轮流尝试，按照自己生活中的实际情况，把硬币放在平衡秤的两边，看看他们的人生是否保持平衡。理想情况下，平衡秤应该稍微偏向属灵生活这一边；如果不是，就鼓励孩子们多花一些时间在属灵生命的成长上。

Well Balanced Life

An engaging example of the importance of having a balanced life.

Balance Scale orRound Pencil, Ruler & ThumbtackDifferent Types of Coins

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

PREPARATION:

Before starting the object talk, purchase a balance scale such as the one shown above, or create your own.

To make a balance scale use a round pencil, ruler and thumb tack. Lay the pencil flat on a table, then balance the ruler on the center of the pencil. To keep the ruler centered on the pencil, push a thumb tack through the center of the ruler into the pencil. (Note: Depending on the type of ruler you are using you may need to drill a small hole through the ruler beforehand to make it easier to push in the thumbtack.)

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

What do you know about the topic of balance? Has anyone ever played on a teeter-totter when you were younger? Teeter-totters are great fun and playfully teach children about balance. Most, if not all of us, have heard that we should eat a balanced diet. What do you know about eating a balanced diet? Why is a balanced diet important? Eating a well balanced diet will help us stay healthy.

Do you know that it is important to have a well balanced spiritual life as well? (Place the scale on the table in front of the class.) To grow spiritually we must give the proper care and feeding to our spiritual lives. This scale will help us illustrate the importance of having a well balanced life. (Point to one end of the scale) This end of the scale will represent our physical life. (Point to the other side of the scale) This end of the scale will represent our spiritual life.

(Place a small coin on the end of the scale that represents the physical life.) This coin represents play. (Place a second small coin on the same side of the scale.) This coin will represent school. (Place a third small coin on the same side of the scale.) This coin will represent chores. So far the scales are unfairly tipped to the side of the physical life. (Place a larger coin on spiritual side of the scale) This coin will represent prayer. (Place a second coin on the side on the spiritual side of the scale.) This coin represents reading our bible. (Continue placing coins on the scale until the scales are balanced or slightly leaning towards the spiritual.)

Notice that we didn't have to have a one to one correlation between the coins at each end of the scale, Things such as prayer or reading our bibles have a greater impact on our lives and are thus given more weight.

(Let the kids take turns measuring the balance they have in their lives, by placing coins at each end of the scales. Hopefully the scale will tip toward the spiritual, if not, encourage the kids to spent a little more time on the spiritual side of their lives.)
