把一张美元纸币在教室里传给孩子们，请他们仔细看看纸币的背面。等每个人都看过之后，问：“有多少人注意到美元背面有一句很特别的话？”允许孩子们回答，并等待其中一个孩子提到纸币上印着：“In God We Trust（我们信靠神）。”如果没有孩子提到这一点，就由你自己指出来。

接着问全班：他们是否知道 “In God We Trust（我们信靠神）” 是美利坚合众国（United States of America）的官方格言（official motto）。这句格言印在所有美国货币上，包括：

纸币（paper currency）
硬币（coins）

1861年11月，财政部长蔡斯（Secretary Chase）曾说：“没有一个国家能够在离开神的大能之外变得强盛；也没有一个国家能够在离开神的保护之外获得安全。” （No nation can be strong except in the strength of God, or safe except in His defense.）

In God We Trust

A nation or a people that trusts in God is wise indeed.

TOPICS:

MATERIALS:

US Dollar bill

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Pass a US dollar bill around the room and ask the kids to take a good look at the back of the dollar bill. Once everyone has had a chance to look at the dollar ask, "How many of you noticed something really neat that is on the back of a dollar bill?" Allow for answers and wait until one of the kids mention that it had "In God We Trust" printed on it. If none of the kids mention this fact, bring it up yourself.

Ask the class if they knew that "In God We Trust" is the official motto of the United States of America and this motto is printed on all USA currency; paper currency, as well as coins. In November 1861, Secretary Chase stated "No nation can be strong except in the strength of God, or safe except in His defense."Early Americans knew the importance of trusting God, the wisdom in this should be considered by each and everyone one of us today as well. A nation or a people that trusts in God is wise indeed.

1. Why is it wise to trust in God?

2. Is anything more trustworthy than God?

3. Can we trust God during good times?

4. Can we trust God during bad times?
