2:1在希律王的日子，耶稣生在犹太的伯利恒。看哪，有星象家从东方来到耶路撒冷，说，
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
2:2那生为犹太人之王的在那里？因为祂的星出现的时候，我们看见了，就前来拜祂。
Saying, Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star at its rising and have come to worship Him.
2:3希律王听见了，就惊慌不安，全耶路撒冷也同他一样。
And when Herod the king heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.
2:4他就召集了所有的祭司长和民间的经学家，向他们查问，基督当生在何处。
And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
2:5他们对他说，在犹太的伯利恒，因为借着申言者所记的是这样：
And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written through the prophet:
2:6“犹大地的伯利恒啊！你在犹大的首领中，绝不是最小的，因为有一位掌权者要从你出来，牧养我民以色列。”
"And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means are you the least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler, One who will shepherd My people Israel.''
2:7当下，希律王暗暗的召了星象家来，向他们确查那星出现的时间，
Then Herod, secretly calling the magi, determined accurately from them the time that the star appeared.
2:8就差他们往伯利恒去，说，你们去详确的搜寻那孩子，寻到了，就报告我，我也好去拜祂。
And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go and find out accurately about the child. And when you find Him, report to me, so that I also may come and worship Him.
2:9他们听了王的话，就去了。看哪，他们曾看见它出现的那星，在他们前头领路，直领到那孩子那里，就在上头停住了。
And after they heard the king, they went their way, and behold, the star which they saw at its rising led them until it came and stood over the place where the child was.
2:10他们看见那星，就极其欢乐。
And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
2:11进了屋子，看见那孩子和祂母亲马利亚，就俯伏拜祂，揭开宝盒，向祂献上黄金、乳香和没药为礼物。
And they came into the house and saw the child with Mary His mother. And falling down, they worshipped Him; and opening their treasures, they offered gifts to Him, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
2:12星象家既在梦中受神指示，不要回去见希律，就从别的路回本地去了。
And because they had been divinely instructed in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed by another way to their country.
