沙丁鱼罐头（游戏）

这是一个有点滑稽的游戏，和本课内容没有什么关系（不过，有些门徒确实是渔夫）。举行一个吃沙丁鱼比赛。选两名学生互相比赛。最先吃完一罐沙丁鱼的人可以得到一份奖品，例如1美元、一块糖果，或者一瓶水，好把沙丁鱼冲下去！

这些平凡的人，只因为遇见了耶稣，就改变了世界，这不是很奇妙吗？现在，让我们开始进一步认识这些人。我们一定能从他们身上学到许多功课！

深入学习(30分钟)

关于十二门徒，我们究竟知道些什么？

（其中一些内容你们可能已经讨论过，但这些资料能帮助你们对十二门徒有一个基本的认识。）

• 其中4人是渔夫：彼得、安得烈、雅各和约翰。他们很可能没有受过多少教育，也不富有。

• 其中1人来自渔村：腓力来自伯赛大。

• 其中1人是税吏：马太。他很可能受过教育，也比较富有。

• 其中1人很可能是政治激进分子：奋锐党的西门。奋锐党人试图以暴力推翻罗马在以色列的统治。

• 至少有1人对弥赛亚抱有不同的想法：犹大，后来出卖了耶稣。

接下来，我们将集中来看腓力。但在此之前，让我们先来看门徒早期与耶稣相遇的一段记载。

读 马可福音 1:14-20

讨论问题：

1. 耶稣为什么会选择这些人？祂可能有什么原因？

2. 你认为耶稣在呼召他们之前就认识他们吗？（祂认识其中一些人。）

3. 他们怎样回应耶稣的呼召？（他们跟随了祂。）

耶稣呼召这些人参与改变人的生命，其中也包括改变他们自己的生命。耶稣的呼召当然使他们一直以来所寻求的人生有了方向和目的，但这个呼召也带着令人惧怕的一面。

这些人中有一个名叫腓力。他的经历很有代表性，显明了当耶稣说“跟从我”时，所有门徒所面对的事。

读 约翰福音 1:43-46

讨论问题：

1. 你认为耶稣对腓力所说的，是否不只是“跟从我”这一句话？

2. 腓力怎样回应耶稣？接下来他做了什么？（他去告诉巴多罗买／拿但业 - 他们是同一个人 - 弥赛亚已经找到了。）

3. 拿但业有什么反应？（他表示怀疑。）

4. 腓力怎样说服他一起来？（他说：“你来看。”）

这基本上就是福音书中关于腓力的全部记载。和其他门徒一样，新约中偶尔会引用他说的话，但与其他较为重要的人物相比，他所产生的影响并不那么显眼。不过，有一件事我们知道：腓力一旦亲身经历了耶稣，就立刻愿意跟随祂，并且去告诉别人。

应用实践（10分钟）

“我要传扬你的名”（一位宣教士的故事）

罗兰·艾伦讲过这样一个故事。有一天，他讲完一篇信息之后，一位资深宣教士来到他面前，自我介绍说：“我曾在印度作了许多年医疗宣教士。我服事的那个地区，流行一种逐渐失明的疾病。人出生时视力正常，但那个地区的某种因素，会使人在逐渐长大的过程中失去视力。”

这位宣教士发明了一种治疗方法，可以阻止这种失明继续发展。因此，人们来到他那里，由他为他们进行手术。他们离开时明白，自己原本可能会失明，但如今，他们在余生中都能够继续看见。

他说，那些人从来不说“谢谢”，因为他们的方言中没有这个说法。他们反而会说一个意思是“我要传扬你的名”的词。无论走到哪里，他们都会传扬那位医治他们失明的宣教士的名字。他们领受了如此美好的恩惠，以至于迫不及待地把这件事告诉别人。

讨论问题：

1. 这个故事与传福音有哪些相似之处？

2. 这些人的动机，与门徒腓力的动机有什么相同之处？

3. 你有多常向别人传扬耶稣的名？

4. 你是否已经接受基督的呼召来跟随祂？你是在什么时候接受的？如果还没有，原因是什么？

耶稣所选择来作使徒的人，似乎都是平凡的、在属灵资格上并不出众的、非常普通的人。他们共同的特征，就是愿意跟随祂。腓力当然也不例外。我们不知道他说过或做过什么神奇的事。我们只知道，在他经历了弥赛亚之后，他的生命就显明了这件事。他去“传扬耶稣的名”。

一般讨论：

• 门徒的平凡令你感到鼓励，还是令你感到灰心？为什么？

• 你是否曾觉得自己没有足够的装备去向人传讲耶稣？为什么？

• 为什么我们常常认为，一个人必须“很特别”，才能为神成就重要的事？根据我们今天所学习的内容，这种想法是否错误？为什么？

• 你是否曾告诉自己，自己已经做得“够好了”？为什么这是一种错误的态度？

正如那首古老的诗歌所唱：“前我失丧，今被寻回；曾经瞎眼，今得看见。”我们曾经陷在属灵的瞎眼中，但因为基督，我们如今能够看见。我们每天的生活，都应当反映出基督将祂自己赐给我们的这份奇妙恩典。我们应当在每天的行动中，不断“传扬基督的名”。

今天请问问自己：你与耶稣的相遇，是否已经彻底改变了你的生命，以至于你每天都不能不把祂活出来？如果还没有，我想你在属灵生命上仍有一些功课需要面对。耶稣已经预备好，也愿意使用你，就像祂曾使用使徒一样，使世界翻转过来。

结束祷告(2分钟)

祷告求神使组员接受耶稣的呼召来跟随祂，并像腓力一样，热切地传扬基督的名。

The Disciples

Lesson 1: I Will Tell Your Name

OPENING PRAYER (5 to 10 minutes)

GROUP BUILDING (5 minutes)

Can of Sardines (Game)

This is a silly game, and has nothing to do with the lesson (although some of the disciples were fishermen). Have a sardine eating contest. Pick two students to race against each other. The first person to eat a can of sardines wins a prize, ($1, a candy bar, maybe a bottle of water to wash it down!)

GETTING STARTED (10 minutes)

For the next few weeks, we will focus on lessons from the twelve disciples of Jesus.

General Discussion:

• Without looking it up, can any of you name all 12 disciples?

• Can we come up with all 12 as a group? (A complete list can be found in Matt. 10:2-4, Mark 3:16-18, Luke 6:14, or Acts 1:13)

• What do you know about them? What’s interesting to you about these men?

 (There is a place in the lesson workbook to list the names of the twelve disciples.)

Isn’t it fascinating that these regular men changed the face of the world all because they encountered Jesus? Let’s get started learning more about who these guys were—we surely have a lot to learn from them!

DIGGING IN (30 minutes)

What do we really know about the Twelve?(Some of this you may have already talked about, but this will bring you up to a baseline understanding of who the twelve were.)• 4 were fishermen: (Peter, Andrew, James, and John-all likely uneducated and not wealthy)• 1 from a fishing town:(Philip-from Bethsaida) • 1 was a tax collector: (Matthew-likely educated and wealthy)• 1 was likely a political radical: (Simon-Zealots worked to violently overthrow Roman rule in Israel) • 1 (at least) had different ideas about the Messiah: (Judas-who later betrayed Jesus) 

In a moment, we’re going to focus on Philip. Before we do, let’s take a look at an early encounter with Jesus. 

Read Mark 1:14-20

Discussion Questions:

1. What reason might Jesus have had to choose these particular men?

2. Do you think Jesus knew them before He called them? (He knew some of them.)

3. What were their responses to the call of Jesus? (They followed Him.)

4. Jesus had 4-5 fishermen among the disciples. What about the fishermen was appealing for what Jesus wanted to accomplish?

5. How is fishing like evangelism?

Jesus called these men to participate in the transformation of people’s lives, including their own.  While Jesus’ call certainly gave them purpose for what they had been seeking, it also contained an element of fear.

One of these men was named Philip. His experience stands out as indicative of what all the disciples faced when Jesus said, “Follow Me.”

Read John 1:43-46

Discussion Questions:

1. Do you think Jesus said more to Philip than just “Follow Me”?

2. What was Philip’s response to Jesus? What did he do next? (He went and told Bartholomew/Nathanael (the same person) that the Messiah had been found.)

3. What was Nathanael’s response? (He doubted.)

4. How did Philip convince him to come? (He said, “just come and see.”)

That is really all we get on Philip in the gospels. Like the other disciples, he’s quoted here and there in the New Testament, but his impact is somewhat obscured by more major characters. One thing we know, however—once he experienced Jesus, he was ready to jump on board and tell others.

MAKING IT REAL (10 minutes)

"I Will Tell Your Name" (A Missionary's Story) 

Roland Allen tells about a veteran missionary who came up to him one day after he had delivered his sermon. The missionary introduced himself and said, "I was a medical missionary for many years in India. And I served in a region where there was progressive blindness. People were born with healthy vision, but there was something in that area that caused people to lose their sight as they matured.”

But this missionary had developed a process that arrested progressive blindness. So, people came to him, and he performed his operation. They left realizing that they would have become blind, but now they were going to be able to see for the rest of their lives.

He said that they never said, "Thank you," because that phrase was not in their dialect. Instead, they spoke a word that meant, “I will tell your name.” Wherever they went, they would tell the name of the missionary who had cured their blindness. They received something so wonderful that they eagerly proclaimed it.

Discussion Questions:

1. How is this story like evangelism?

2. How is the motivation of these people the same as that of Philip the disciple?

3. How much do you share the name of Jesus?

4. Have you accepted the call of Christ to follow Him? When did you do so, or why haven’t you yet?

Jesus seems to have chosen regular, spiritually-unqualified, and very NORMAL people to serve as His apostles. Their common thread was their willingness to follow Him. Philip was certainly no exception. We don’t know of anything magical that he said or did. We just know that after he had an experience with the Messiah, his life showed it. He “told the name” of Jesus. 

General Discussion:

• Do you view the ordinary-ness of the disciples as encouraging or discouraging? Why?

• Do you ever feel ill-equipped to share about Jesus? Why?

• Why do you think we believe you have to be “special” in order to do something significant for God? Is that false based on what we’ve studied today? How so?

• Do you ever tell yourself that you’re doing “good enough?” How is this a wrong attitude?

As the old hymn goes, “I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.” We were people trapped in spiritual blindness, but because of Christ, we are able to see. Our everyday life should be a reflection of the awesome gift Christ has given us in Himself. We should be going around “telling the name” of Christ with our everyday actions. 

Ask yourself today: has your encounter with Jesus so transformed your life that you can’t help but live it every day?  If not, I think you have some work to do spiritually. Jesus is ready and wants to use you like He used the apostles to turn the world upside down.

CLOSING PRAYER (2 minutes)

Pray that your group accepts Jesus' call to follow Him, and like Philip have an eagerness to spread the name of Christ.
