BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)

Introduction:

Today, we are going to read Chapter 2 in the book of Philippians as Paul continues to write from from prison—a place that is cold, lonely, and miserable. However, Paul writes with love and joy; he does not let prison rob him of his love for the Lord or his joy of purposeful living. We are going to see Paul encourage the Philippians to be stars that shine in the sky all for the glory of Jesus. Paul gives the Philippians tools to think like Jesus and live like Jesus so they can be that example that shines for Jesus in this dark world that doesn’t know Jesus.

Discussion Questions:

1. Who was wrote the letter to the Philippians? (Paul.)

2. Where was Paul when he wrote the letter? (A Roman prison.)

3. Who did he write the letter to? (To the Philippians and Christians believers everywhere.)

4. How can we think like Jesus? (We can think of others before ourselves. We can refrain from grumbling when things don't go our way.)

5. Why did scripture say Jesus made Himself nothing? (He is God, Lord most high, the King of kings, He sat in Heaven with the Father God, yet He came down to earth to be a man, a servant to die on the cross for our sins.)

6. How can we live like Jesus and shine like a star? (We can think of others before ourselves. We can refrain from grumbling when things don't go our way.)
