Yes, No, Sometimes

The children will be reminded that God always answers their prayers!by Leah Pittsinger

TOPICS:

Prayer

MATERIALS:

None

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Tell the class that you will read some sentences and they will answer by holding a thumbs-up for “yes,” a thumbs-down for “no,” or twisting their hand back and forth for “sometimes.” After practicing the motions several times, read the prompts below.

1. God will always love me. (Thumbs-up)

2. God doesn’t care about my prayers. (Thumbs-down)

3. God gives me what I want. (Twisting hand)

4. God gives me what I need. (Thumbs-up)

5. If God doesn’t answer “yes,” then I should stop praying. (Thumbs-down)

6. God knows what is best for me. (Thumbs-up)

7. God cares when I am sad. (Thumbs-up)

8. It’s hard to remember to ask God for help when I pray. (Any answer)

Application:

Remind the class that God wants us to ask for the things we desire, and we can trust His answers no matter what! And as practice praying, we learn more about God’s forever love for us.
