Immediate Response
The children will have fun responding to certain commands. At the same time, they will connect how Biblical characters immediately responded by praying during both good and bad times.by Kristy Thornton
TOPICS:Faith, Prayer, Trust MATERIALS:None DURATION:Approximately 10 minutes |
|
WHAT YOU WILL SAY:
When the doctor tests your reflexes by hitting your kneecap, your knee responds immediately. It automatically knows what to do. It kicks your foot out. We need to practice our immediate responses. When we get good or bad news, we need to know exactly what to do.
One biblical example is Nehemiah. He responds immediately when he receives bad news. Can anyone tell me what the bad news was? (Jerusalem’s walls and gates were destroyed.) How did Nehemiah respond? (He wept, prayed to God, and fasted.) Yes, he prayed to God. That needs to be our immediate response when we hear bad news. We need to pray and trust that God is in control. Nehemiah was special to God, so God used Nehemiah to fix the problem. You are also special to God and He might want to use you to help fix a problem.
We are going to practice our responses when we hear good or bad news. I will give you some news. You will have to respond immediately, without hesitating. If you think the news is good, jump up point to God and say, “Praise God.” If you think the news is bad, drop to your knees and fold your hands in prayer and say, “Help, God.”
Mix up the news you give the kids.
Good News | Bad News |
I got a new bike. | I lost my bike. |
I won my soccer game. | I got hurt in my soccer game. |
My mom is healed. | My mom is sick. |
