课前准备

在上课前，准备一小块木板、几颗木螺钉和一把螺丝起子。可以在木板上预先钻两个小孔，以便稍后更容易拧入螺钉。

说明

你们当中有多少人看过或帮父母做过家庭修理的工作？我非常喜欢修理房子，这真的很有趣。（举起木板。）

这是我上次做项目时剩下的一块木板。那次最难的部分就是要把这些木螺钉拧进木头里。（试着用手把螺钉拧进木板，用夸张的表情和动作表现吃力的样子。擦汗、甩手，好像手很痛。）

我花了好久才把一个螺钉拧进去，手还特别疼。后来我回到五金店，问店员为什么这么难。店员问我是不是在用木螺钉，我说当然是了，我又不笨。那我到底做错了什么呢？（让孩子们提出建议。）

（如果孩子们猜到你没用合适的工具——螺丝起子——就装出一脸惊讶，然后拿出螺丝起子。）

店员还给了我这个东西，但我不知道要怎么用！他说这叫螺丝起子。（这次用螺丝起子，轻松地把螺钉拧进木板。）

哇，这简单多了！使用正确的工具真是让我得力啊！

应用：

开玩笑归开玩笑，很多人试图靠自己的力量去完成任务。结果，他们累得筋疲力尽，却疑惑为什么没有得到想要的结果。我们的属灵生命其实与此相似。如果只依靠自己的力量，我们所能完成的也非常有限。

（再次举起螺丝起子。）

就像合适的工具能帮助我们完成体力工作一样，圣灵、祷告、阅读神的话语，以及其他基督徒的劝勉，都能让我们的属灵生命与事奉得着加力。

Empowered

Using the proper tools empowers us both physically and spiritually.

Small wooden boardWood screwScrewdriver

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

PREPARATION:

Before class, obtain a small piece of wood, a couple wood screws and a screwdriver. Drill a small starter hole in the wood to make it easier to attach the screw.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

How many of you have seen, or even helped your parents do a home repair project? I really enjoy fixing up the house. It is a lot of fun. (Hold up the wooden board.)

This is a board that I had left over from my last project. The hardest part of that project was getting these wood screws to go into the wood. (Using just your hand attempt to screw the wood screw into the wood, using a lot of animated emotions as you do so. Wipe your brow, shake your hand as if it is in pain. Note: Do not use the starter hole you drilled in the wood before class.)

It took a looong time to get one screw into the wood and it really hurt my hand. I even went back to the hardware store and asked the clerk why it was so hard. The clerk asked me if I was using wood screws and I told him, yes of course I was. I'm no dummy. I wonder what I was doing wrong? (Allow the class to make suggestions on what you did wrong.)

(If the kids guess that you didn't use the proper tool, a screwdriver, act dumbfounded. Then hold up the screwdriver.) The clerk also gave me one of these, but I don't know what I am supposed to do with it! He said it was a screwdriver. (Use the screwdriver and the starter hole you drilled before class to easily put a screw into the wood.)

Wow that was much easier! Using the right tool really empowered me!

"All joking aside, many people try to complete jobs using just their own strength. These people wear themselves out and wonder why they are not getting the results they expected. Our spiritual life often parallels our physical projects. We will not accomplish as much using just our own strength. (Hold up the screwdriver again.)

Just as the proper tool can empower us for physical tasks, the Holy Spirit, Prayer, reading the Word of God and the counsel of other Christians can empower our spiritual lives and projects.
