(Sofia runs up to Mark as he is leaving school. She is nearly out of breath as she talks)

Sofia:

Hey Mark! Wait up!

Mark:

Hey Soph! How are you doing?

Sofia:

I'm fine ...really!

(There is a long pause before Mark speaks up)

Mark:

Yes? Well, did you need something?

Sofia:

Well, actually...yes I do. Mark ...I'm sorry about the way I acted the other day!

Mark:

It's okay Sofia! I already forgave.....(interrupted by Sofia)

Sofia:

No, please! Let me apologize. I was very rude to you! I was being all proud and I let my grades get to my head! I'm ...I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have acted that way! Will you PLEASE, PLEASE forgive me?!

Mark:

Sofia, as I was saying, of course I forgive you.

Sofia:

(surprised) Really! You do?

Mark:

(laughing) What kind of a friend do you think I am? I wouldn't let something like that ruin our friendship! I love all my friends, so why would I want to lose any of them over something like that?

Sofia:

(surprised) Mark...how do you do it? I mean, how can you love me even when I'm mean and self-centered?

Mark:

Well...You know what? I have to ask God the same thing every day!

Sofia:

What do you mean?

Mark:

How can God love me when I disobey my parents, or when I lie, steal or cheat, or when I'm being mean to my little brother or sister?

Sofia:

And what's the answer?

Mark:

Well, I know that God chooses to love me and so ...I need to do the same! I need to choose to love my family and friends, even when they make mistakes.

Sofia:

Mark, I need to learn to be like you!

Mark:

Oh no, no, no Sofia. You need to learn to be like Jesus.
