Get Up and Walk

The children will play a game to remind them that Jesus has the power to heal.by Leah Pittsinger

TOPICS:

Believing, Healing, Miracles

MATERIALS:

Chairs

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

PREPARATION:

Arrange chairs in the playing area of the room.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Tell the class about the man who was healed by Jesus at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15). Explain that Jesus gave the man the command to “Get up, pick up his mat, and walk.” Show the children the chairs within the playing area and explain that everyone will start by sitting in a chair. On the command, “Get up and walk!” everyone will carefully walk around the chairs (not around their own individual chair) while you remove a single chair from play. On the command, “Sit by the pool!” the children will find a chair to sit in. The child who is unable to find a chair is out, and the next round of the game will start. Continue this process of commands and removing chairs until one child is the winner.

Application: Jesus’ command to the disabled man at the Pool of Bethesda had the power to heal. We can trust that He also has the power to heal and help us!
