借着基督的赎罪，死人复活与天上的永生是所有基督徒的核心信仰。作为基督徒，我们不再需要惧怕死亡。《哥林多前书》15:55 说：“死啊，你得胜的权势在哪里？死啊，你的毒钩在哪里？”我们在基督里是蒙福的，应当过荣耀神的生活，盼望将来与祂同在天上的日子。

THE MIRACLES OF JESUS

LESSON 6: Raising of Lazarus

Through this lesson children will be introduced to the concepts of resurrection and eternal life. They get a glimpse of the power that will be fully displayed during the final resurrection when all the deceased hear Jesus' voice and rise from the dead.

As children arrive have them complete the maze "Help Lazarus Unwind." Once the kids complete the maze, encourage them to read the account of Jesus' resurrection of Lazarus in John 11:1-44

MEMORY WORK (12 minutes)

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;'" John 11:25 NIV

Read this verse to the class. Ask the kids what they think Jesus means when He says, "He who believes in me will live, even though he dies." Explain that Jesus will give eternal live to all who believe in Him. Read the verse three more times together as a class.

SCRIPTURE READING AND DISCUSSION (15 minutes)

Introduction:Jesus' resurrection of Lazarus is one of the most spectacular miracles recorded in the Bible. These scriptures clearly demonstrate that Jesus is the resurrection and the life, in which all believers can put their trust for eternal life.

Read John 11:1-44 (The Death of Lazarus)

Discussion Questions:

1. When Jesus got word that Lazarus was about to die, did He immediately return to Judea? (No, He stayed where He was for two more days.)

2. Why didn't Jesus rush back to help His friend, Lazarus, who was about to die? (Jesus knew He had the power over life and death. Jesus would use this opportunity to glorify God and Himself.)

3. How long had Lazarus been dead by the time Jesus and His disciples arrived? (Four days.)

4. Who did Jesus tell Martha He was? (Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life.")

5. What did Jesus promise to all who believe in Him? (That they will live even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in Him will never die.)

6. In verse 37, why would some people doubt the power of God and not realize that if Jesus had the power to heal the sick, He would also have the power to raise the dead? (These people not only displayed a lack of belief in the resurrection, but also a lack of belief that Jesus was the son of God.)

7. In verse 41-42, Jesus thanks God for hearing His prayer, although He knew the Father always heard His prayers. Why did Jesus do this? (Jesus said this for the benefit of the people, so that they would believe that God sent Him.)

8. What happened when Jesus called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!" (Lazarus came out of the tomb, still wrapped in his grave clothes.)

APPLICATION (2 minutes)

The resurrection of the dead and eternal life in Heaven, through the atonement of Christ, is a core belief of all Christians. As Christians, we no longer need to fear death. 1 Corinthians 15:55. states, "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" We are blessed in Christ and should live lives that honor God, looking forward to the day that we will be with Him in Heaven.
